A Set of Six Regence Beechwood Armchairs. Circa 1730

The backs of the fauteuils have arched and shaped top rails; the padded arms rests are covered and have scrolling carved arms. The front rails are carved with a shell motif in the centre with scrolls either side leading to legs carved with a shell at the top leading down to a scrolled foot. All are covered in a blue cotton fabric with a central motif of leaves and flowers.
