Probably from the collection of a member of the Hamilton family, originally of Abercorn Scotland, Earls of Abercorn from 1606, Marquesses of Abercorn from 1790 and Dukes of Abercorn from 1868. The family seat is Baronscourt, Co Tyrone, Norther Ireland.

Julien Le Roy (1686 – 1759)
He was the son of Pierre-Julien Le Roy of Tours and went to Paris in 1699 and was apprenticed to Le Bon. He was made Master in 1713 and clock maker to the King with lodgings in the Louvre. In 1714 he married Jeanne Delafons. His portrait was painted by Peronneau. He published several articles and was a jure man in 1731 and invented the mechanism for the equation of time in 1735.
